A gunman reportedly held up a Lawrence convenience store early Monday morning.

The robbery happened about 5:50 a.m. at Kwik Shop, 845 Mississippi St., where a man entered the business, brandished a gun and presented a note demanding cash, according to a Lawrence Police Department news release. Police said the suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

The two employees, a 36-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, were not hurt, police said.

The suspect fled in a light gray four-door sedan heading west on Ninth Street, according to police. He was described as a white male, about 5 feet 6 inches, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, navy blue sweatpants, white tennis shoes, sunglasses and a ball cap.

Police urge anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 785-843-TIPS (8477).
