A Lawrence man has been arrested on rape charges in connection with an incident that occurred last year.

Erick W. Ogwangi, 33, was booked into the Douglas County Jail and released after posting $30,000 bond on Wednesday, jail records indicate.

He is charged with one count of rape, a felony, according to a complaint provided Wednesday by the Douglas County district attorney’s office. In the complaint, filed Monday, prosecutors allege that the crime occurred in January 2017 and involved a 26-year-old victim who was unconscious or physically powerless.

Ogwangi is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 21.

The Journal-World requested Ogwangi’s booking photo from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office but did not immediately receive a response regarding its release.
