Two dogs, Fritz, left, and Socks, clamor for attention from behavior manager Amy Ogleby on Monday, April 10, 2017 in the play yard at the Lawrence Humane Society, 1805 E. 19th St.

The Lawrence Humane Society plans to waive adoption fees this weekend.

The waiver is part of Clear the Shelters Day, a nationwide initiative in which animal shelters across the country try to find homes for every adoptable pet in their care, according to a news release from the Humane Society.

The Humane Society currently has more than 150 pets and will waive adoption fees from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, the release said. The waiver includes fees for spaying/neutering, a microchip with lifetime registration, up-to-date vaccines, a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet pet food, precertification in Companion Protect Pet Health Insurance, a collar and leash for dogs, and a carrier for cats.

The Lawrence Humane Society is located at 1805 E. 19th St.
