To the editor:

God bless the United States of America. God bless a country where any head of state is just another citizen subject to the law and to standards of decent behavior. God bless a country where high school students actually believe the democratic ideals they have been taught and actually aspire to change their country’s direction through determined effort. God bless a country where a free news media will state painful truths without yielding to pressures. God bless a country where hypocrisy is regularly challenged. God bless a country that is so wildly diverse that no powerful individual or conglomerate can impose a single belief system on all. God bless the United States of America! May it survive and adapt forever.
