Letter to the editor: Act with honesty

To the editor:

I’d like to respond to the recent letter regarding the “war on basketball.” That “war” is about corruption in nonprofessional sports. Corruption wherever we find it is a threat to fairness in business, government and ultimately our democracy. Is it OK to buy your way to power in sports, business or government? What kind of ethical and moral compass does this set for our citizens? Unfortunately, there will always be dishonest individuals in business and politics. We merely have to look at the national political scene this past year to see how power and money can be corrupting and demoralizing. I enjoy sports and KU basketball but prefer that educational institutions that support athletics act with honesty and integrity.
