Letter to the editor: A check on Trump?

To the editor:

Dear Congress people,

I am writing to express my extreme concern regarding the current executive branch of our federal government. I fear the president is compromised by Russia. I do not believe his back-pedaling after the Helsinki press conference. He clearly favors Russia over our own intelligence professionals. At that press conference we learned from our intelligence community that Russia is currently instigating cyber-attacks against the U.S. Yet President Trump was so pleased by Mr. Putin’s offer that Russia help us with our cyber security. Just days later I hear news that the White House has eliminated the cyber-security position. Tell me, dear members of the legislative branch. Is Russia now in charge of our security? I fear the executive branch is compromised by a hostile foreign power. It is the constitutional duty of the legislative branch to keep the other branches in check. It is your duty to protect our country and our government. I fear the president has acted treasonously. He should be impeached. I fear for the integrity of our upcoming elections. I await your considerate response (though I know Lynn Jenkins won’t respond because she never does). I’m just a concerned citizen and I hope you are too.

Kathleen Williams,

Lawrence
