To the editor:
A letter to my representatives (Rep. Lynn Jenkins, Sen. Jerry Moran, Sen. Pat Roberts):
How dare you give tax cuts to the rich only to turn around and say you don’t have the money for children’s health care? Deplorable. I’m not sure why I bother to continue writing you. You clearly don’t care what I believe in.
America is no longer a democracy. When representatives do what they want instead of listening to their constituents, democracy dies. And that’s what’s happened. I’m not sure what I’d call what it’s been replaced with; I’m not an expert. All I know is that our government is failing us.
In case I was too subtle, I’ll rephrase: You’re failing us. You have about a year before I’ll go to my precinct and fill out a ballot. I hope you spend it changing my mind, but I doubt you will do that — or even read this.
This won’t be the last letter I send. As much as I want to, I refuse to give up, because I deserve to have my voice heard, especially by those elected to make decisions that affect my life directly.
Do right by me. Do right by us. Do right by your conscience.
