To the editor:
In the article about Gov. Sam Brownback’s failure to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the ambassador post to which he was nominated, the attempt to transition from Brownback as governor to Colyer as governor was described as awkward. Awkward indeed! Brownback described it as being like a relay race. I immediately pictured Brownback a half-mile behind Colyer, throwing the stick at him while Colyer, in the meantime, has already started running. Great metaphor, Sam. It worked for me.
