Free State senior Evan Eskilson took first place in two events and a relay in the Sunflower League prelims Friday at Prairie Trail Middle School in Olathe.

Eskilson was first in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay alongside Riley Sirimongkhon-Dyck, Reilley Moore and Dean Stuart. Lawrence High’s Stephen Johnson added first-place prelim finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyles.

The top 18 swimmers in each event will return for the finals, which begin at noon today. The diving finals start at 10 a.m.
