Letter to the editor: Job for police

To the editor:

I am saddened by the death of Trevor Mohawk because it did not have to happen. We live in Old West Lawrence, and a situation exactly like his happened to us. It was 2 a.m. and I heard someone trying very hard to open the front door. Needless to say, I was terrified and I immediately called 911. The young man was definitely intoxicated. It was apparent that after the bars closed he was walking home and felt confident that our house was his house. The police arrived and handled the situation calmly; that is their job. Mr. Mohawk would likely still be making people laugh if the police were given the opportunity to do their job.
