Firebirds win home tennis quad
Free State’s boys tennis team won 11 of its 12 matches in a home quadrangular against Shawnee Mission Northwest, Shawnee Mission North and Olathe Northwest.
Erik Czapinski and Trey Melvin combined to win all three of their matches at No. 1 singles, dropping only a total of three games. Jack Kelsey and Davis Stedman outlasted Shawnee Mission Northwest’s No. 2 doubles team, 8-6, to preserve an undefeated record.
At No. 2 singles, Trent Ediger won all three of his matches.
