Letter to the editor: Police get it right

To the editor:

Protesters in Sacramento, Calif., marched down the interstate to protest the shooting of Stephon Clark, a 22-year-old father, apparently guilty only of holding a phone in his own backyard. Contrast this with the story of David Rainbolt, of Lawrence, who according to the Journal-World’s reporting, came out of his house wielding a firearm. David is still alive today thanks to the prudence of law enforcement officers here in Lawrence. We (rightly) shut down interstates when police get it wrong; I am writing this letter to acknowledge law enforcement officers and thank them when they get it right.
