To the editor:

Thank you, Tonganoxie, for fighting the Tyson plant and winning! This was not a good idea for your town. It would not have mattered what kind of people were employed here. These people who would have been employed would likely have worked in horrible conditions.

The chickens who would have been squeezed tightly into a semi stock trailer wouldn’t have been treated humanely. This would have been the worst thing Tonganoxie could have.

I do not live in Tonganoxie, although I have family members close by, and I wouldn’t want to drive by there knowing that there are hundreds of birds being treated inhumanely so they can be served on someone’s plate. Thank you again for this decision! Now just do us all a favor: Do NOT consider Franklin County next.

Animals and people deserve to be treated humanely.
