Letter to the editor: Historic reminder

To the editor:

Legislators, get your courage up and running. Do something about YOUR gun laws!

Lawrence, Kan., had a major massacre on Aug. 21, 1863; 188 men and boys were killed – no women. This true story, written to his parents at the time, is told in a book available at Amazon called “Postmarked: Bleeding Kansas.”

Many of these early settlers came from Massachusetts in 1855 because they wanted Kansas to come into the Union as a free state. This Kansas town has its main street named Massachusetts Street to honor these brave people.
