To the editor:

I disagree with the letter to the editor that stated that the graves at Memorial Park are not decorated. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 852 has been placing flags on veterans’ graves for over 40 years; I have placed flags on graves that long. If the individual has a veteran that is not on our list, he/she needs to contact us. While I am walking back and forth through a section of the cemetery, I always place flags on veterans’ head stones, regardless of if they are currently on our list. I make a note, so they are on the list for the following year. Our formal ceremonies are held at the designated veterans’ area. I have helped put up the Avenue of Flags. We only put them up when it is not supposed to rain; we start at 5 a.m. on Memorial Day. Would the individual want to help us?
