Letter to the editor: In defense of Trump

To the editor:

In response to Alison Bauer’s March 16 letter regarding the need for an investigation into links between Trump officials and Russia, I would like to point out that such links have been investigated for almost a year now. Nothing has been found that points to any illegalities. Yet certain news organizations continue the drumbeat.

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn lied to the vice president about his full conversation with a Russian diplomat, and with that came consequences, unlike the previous administration, where anything went. Attorney General Jeff Sessions did not lie to Congress. He was answering a convoluted, rambling question from Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), which began with “an unsubstantiated report by CNN” and ended with “whaddya think.”

No, Ms. Bauer, President Trump (I love the sound of that) did nothing wrong. He may be crude, brash, crass and overbearing, but he knows how to take charge and manage. He’s been successful in business, and also failed. He exhibits traits that were missing in a president whose only experience was as a community organizer and a bureaucrat, and a candidate whose only experiences were being a first lady and a bureaucrat.
