Lawrence police investigating early-morning stabbing on Kentucky Street; suspect arrested

Police have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing early Saturday morning in central Lawrence.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Kentucky Street at 2:21 a.m. in reference to a stabbing.

At the scene, police found a 44-year-old Lawrence resident with injuries consistent with a stab wound, according to a news release later Saturday from Sgt. Amy Rhoads. The man was taken via ambulance to a regional hospital in serious condition.

Police located the suspect, a 41-year-old man, and took him to the Douglas County jail on suspicion of aggravated battery. Rhoads said the investigation was ongoing and provided no further details.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office booking log indicates Devintrey Thomas Adams, 41, of Lawrence, was arrested early Saturday in the 900 block of Kentucky Street on suspicion of aggravated battery. The log indicates he was released Saturday afternoon on a $20,000 cash or surety bond.
