Letter to the editor: Inexcusable absence

To the editor:

What stopped the Kansas secretary of state from attending this year’s meeting of the National Association of Secretaries of State in Indianapolis?

Most of the rest of the nation was represented by the people elected to administer their elections. Election integrity was a main topic. My fellow Kansans and I were not represented.

I am dumbfounded that someone who had the time to write every secretary of state in America (for a position he was recently appointed to) did not have time to attend this meeting to represent the office he was elected to and swore to serve faithfully.

The other secretaries of state noted the absence of the person who wrote them all earlier in the week in a slapdash attempt to amass personal voter information. Some found it ironic.

I find it inexcusable.
