Letter to the editor: Pitts invaluable
To the editor:
In response to Gary Stussie’s recent letter to the editor (“Dump Pitts,” Feb. 20), I hope you will not dump the magnificent Leonard Pitts, whose generous and compassionate analysis, sharp but sympathetic sense of humor and deeply informed commentary are so badly needed by those among us who wallow in white privilege while voting and whine to return to the era they think is bygone. That is the one, still with us, where poor white folks can “eat Jim Crow” while reveling in their whiteness and the poverty their favorite leaders — now Trump-like — condemn them to.
