Letter to the editor: Not this time

To the editor:

As someone who believes in the value of public education, I can see the logic in improving the physical structure of the city’s schools. I’m afraid, however, that the latest bond proposal (“$87 million not hard cap for bond projects,” Journal-World, April 3) simply doesn’t make the grade. The profligate over-expenditures on the bond that passed in 2013 ought to convince Lawrence taxpayers/voters that the school district needs to first demonstrate that it can effectively manage its bond project funds before asking for millions more.
