Trial setting pushed back for one of two suspects accused of Haskell dorm rape

A scheduling date regarding the second criminal trial for one of two former Haskell Indian Nations University students accused of rape was pushed back Thursday afternoon.

The man, 20, faces two felony counts of rape and one count of aggravated criminal sodomy. The second defendant, 21, faces felony counts of aiding and abetting attempted rape and two counts of rape; his trial is scheduled to begin July 25.

The two are accused of raping a 19-year-old Haskell freshman in their dormitory room in the early-morning hours of Nov. 15, 2014. Both were arrested that day and later released from jail after posting a $75,000 bond each. They were also expelled from Haskell.

A trial for the 20-year-old man began June 13, but the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict after the weeklong trial and a mistrial was declared.

Now, the 20-year-old man will go through the trial process once more. Thursday’s trial setting date was rescheduled for July 13 at 2:15 p.m.

The trial for the 21-year-old suspect is scheduled to begin July 25.
