Letter to the editor: A safer country

To the editor:

In order for there to be less killings in this country, the Department of Immigration and the Department of Homeland Security have to do better background checks on foreigners to be sure they are not members of the jihad or ISIS groups.

Secondly, better background checks have to be done on people getting gun permits. The right to bear arms does not mean killing children in schools, drive-by shootings, road rage, campus killings, racist or sexist killings, etc. It requires vigilant control. Those in authority are so worried about fireworks, as they should be, but they better be more concerned about gun control. Then there can be peace on earth.
