Notebook: Jamari Traylor injures right eye in win

Kansas forward Jamari Traylor (31) walks off the court with a swollen eye along side trainer Bill Cowgill after catching an elbow from teammate Cheick Diallo during the second half, Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas University senior Jamari Traylor took a shot to the head and face on the defensive end of the floor during the second half of the Jayhawks’ 70-63 victory over TCU Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse.

Traylor’s teammate Cheick Diallo accidentally caught him with an elbow, with 8:13 left and Traylor didn’t return.

“There’s no concussion,” KU coach Bill Self said after the game of Traylor’s health. “His eye is swollen shut. Cheick got him pretty good. Initial reports are he should be fine. They’ll double-check to make sure there’s no fracture which we don’t anticipate.”

Junior guard Brannen Greene had three points in 10 minutes.

“His leg was bothering him,” Self said. “I asked him if it was his (surgically repaired) hip. He said, ‘Not that one, it’s the other one. Something doesn’t feel right.’ I said, ‘It’s visible. You can’t move,'” Self added.

“I don’t think it’s anything serious,” the coach said of Greene. “People can tweak something all the time.”
