Overland Park ? The Lawrence High volleyball team lost its season opener Tuesday at Blue Valley Northwest, 25-14, 25-12.

LHS coach Stephanie Magnuson cited five players for strong play in the match: Katelyn Mask had four kills and eight digs; Baylee Unruh recorded three kills; Lauren Maceli recorded eight digs; and Laurel Bird and Laura Willoughby each had five assists.

The Lions (0-1) next will play a home triangular against Basehor-Linwood and Ottawa at 5 p.m. Thursday.
