Letter: Kobach misleading
To the editor:
The Journal-World story regarding Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s visit to Kansas University was not entirely accurate. Kobach did not simply dismiss the criticisms and questions raised by audience members. He often offered misleading or dissembling answers, cast aspersions on well-known research and selectively responded to critical points with anecdotal evidence that failed to address the questions at hand.
In short, it was an extended exercise in misdirection and avoidance of key issues that the forum was intended to address, particularly the legacy of the Voting Rights Act.
