FSHS golfer Hoopingarner 49th at Eagle Bend

Free State sophomore golfer Tori Hoopingarner carded 98 and placed 49th among 114 competitors Wednesday in the Lawrence Invitational at Eagle Bend.

Hoopingarner shot a 47 on the front nine before scoring a 51 on the back. Free State junior Anne Goebel shot a 104, finishing in 71st place.

The tournament also served as the second leg of the Sunflower League Championship. Goebel is 21st individually in the league standings with a 220 combined total. Hoopingarner didn’t compete in the first leg of league.

Shawnee Mission East won the Lawrence Invitational by 10 strokes over Washburn Rural. Topeka’s Rachel Stous won the individual championship with a 2-under-par 70.
