Preliminary hearing set for man charged with multiple burglaries, sex crimes

A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Dec. 16 and 17 for a 36-year-old Lawrence man charged with multiple counts of burglary and sex crimes.

The man is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $1 million bond following multiple alleged burglaries Saturday night. His charges include four counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated sodomy, one count of rape, four counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal threat.

Douglas County District Judge Kay Huff will preside over the hearing. Lawrence attorney Branden Smith was appointed to represent the defendant.
