Blue-chip forward Harry Giles commits to Duke

Harry Giles, a 6-10 senior forward from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, on Friday orally committed to play basketball at Duke University.

Giles, who had a final list of Duke, Kansas University, Wake Forest and Kentucky, made the announcement on ESPN.

Giles, who is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is ranked No. 2 nationally by Rivals.com. He soon will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn ACL in his right knee, ESPN.com reported Thursday. He tore the ACL, MCL and meniscus in his left knee the summer between his freshman and soph years of high school. He also broke the third metacarpal in his left hand in September.
