Today in Lawrence: More rain, Purity Ring and a butchering demonstration

More rain

It’s going to be a wet, chilly early start to the day, with temperatures hovering around 50 with rain until about noon. Rain clouds are expected to move out about then, but regular clouds will stick around, making for a gray sky all day. Temperatures will only get into the mid-50s for a high before getting down into the 40s tonight. Bleh.

Purity Ring will perform at 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Granada, 1020 Massachusetts St.

Purity Ring

Canadian electronic music duo Purity Ring comes to the Granada for a 9 p.m. show tonight in support of their latest album, this year’s “Another Eternity.” The band describes its genre as “future pop” — we’re not really sure what that means, but if you like electronic pop music with female vocals and slow, harsh beats, then you’ll probably like Purity Ring. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $22 and are available at the Granada’s box office, 1020 Massachusetts St., and website.

Pork chop

Ever want to know how a hog becomes bacon? The folks at Hank Charcuterie, 1900 Massachusetts St., are inviting the public watch and learn at the shop’s ongoing free butchering demonstrations at 6 p.m. every other Wednesday. Owner Vaughn Good and his sous chef, Jay Tovar-Ballagh, will be butchering a whole hog, answering questions and taking requests for cuts.
