Letter: ‘Boo’ to hate

To the editor:

K-State storming the floor a week ago poses potential problems — safety above all. Clearly they wanted to credit their team for the unexpected delight of the event. Still one has no right to harm, injure or endanger anyone as a result of one’s enthusiasm.

What disturbed me even more was the shot of a boy — I believe it was a boy — holding a sign “I hate you.”  Rivalry, yes!  Favorites, maybe, yes also. Hate, NO! Why hate?

Are we any better when some “boo” during the introduction of the opponents starting line-up? The opponents don’t need that extra stimulation to give us “their best shot.” (And then they have to listen to minutes of KU basketball history hype before the Jayhawks are introduced.)
