Letter: Go Red

To the editor:

Women are strong. We are smart. We solve problems. Women can do anything men can do. And, there are some things we’re even better at: dying of heart disease and stroke.

Each year, one in three women die of heart disease and stroke. The symptoms of heart disease can be different in women versus men and are often misunderstood. Heart disease in women requires more attention, more research and swifter action. Simply put, it’s not just a man’s disease.

The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events can be treated, prevented and even ended with education and lifestyle changes.
