Lions’ Abromeit fifth at T-West

? Lawrence High tennis player Elliott Abromeit went 5-1 and placed fifth in singles Tuesday in the Topeka West Invitational.

The Lions’ Zach Bowie finished 15th in the 20-player draw with a 2-4 record.

In doubles, Jonathan Kinder and Michael Braman went 3-3 and took 11th, and Chanse Bowie and Sam Allen went 2-4 for 15th.

“I was pretty impressed with Elliott,” LHS coach Chris Marshall said. “He was very aggressive. We were in every game. He was in control of a lot of the points, and he was playing to win each point. And his serving was pretty good today. Our doubles teams at times were playing pretty good. We were in a lot of matches. I think everyone is playing better tennis. When the opportunity to win the point presents itself, we need to take advantage.”

Next action for the Lions is Friday in the Lawrence Invitational. LHS will host Free State, Shawnee Mission West, Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission South and Olathe Northwest.
