To the editor:

Last Sunday afternoon, right before closing time at the library, I was asked by a reporter from the Journal-World if I would answer a question for “On the Street.” The question was “What do you miss most about Kansas that isn’t here anymore?” In my hurry to check out, I thought for a minute or two and said Borders Bookstore. I also said Lawrence doesn’t have any good bookstores. Of course we do! The Raven is wonderful! I shop there often. The Dusty Bookshelf is a great place to find books too. My apologies for talking without really mentioning them.

Afterward, given time to think about the question, I came up with my real answer.  I so miss a moderate and thoughtful state government!
