Douglas County sheriff warns of bail bond phone scam
The Douglas County sheriff’s office on Tuesday issued a warning about a phone scam that has targeted several area residents.
A caller, who falsely identifies himself as a law enforcement officer, informs victims that a warrant has been issued and arrest can only be avoided by paying a bail bond via prepaid credit card.
The Douglas County sheriff’s office does not request bond payment via phone. The sheriff’s office also cautions against other calls that request payment over the phone via prepaid credit cards.
Any questions about calls, warrants or other concerns can be answered by the sheriff’s office at 785-841-0007.
