Eudora man gets probation in child abuse cases

Michael L. Radice

A Eudora man accused of physically harming two infants was sentenced to two years of probation on Tuesday.

As a condition of his probation, Michael L. Radice is not allowed to have any contact with the victims, their mothers or any other children younger than 18, according to Cheryl Wright Kunard, assistant to the district attorney.

Radice pleaded no contest to two counts of aggravated battery in August.

Charges stemmed from two separate incidents, both involving babies younger than 1.

At an August court appearance for Radice, prosecutors said that in November 2013 Radice poured “extremely hot water” on the head and face of an infant his then-girlfriend was babysitting. Prosecutors said that in July a 7-week-old baby under Radice’s care suffered a fractured femur and chips to both ankle bones.

Both babies were treated at hospitals for their injuries.

The charges against him call for a presumptive sentence of probation, the Journal-World reported in August. The case was handled by Judge Paula Martin.
