Heavy rains give way to heat indices near 100 degrees

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Wednesday and Thursday through most of northeast Kansas.

Thunderstorms Wednesday morning produced flooding in Lawrence and Douglas County, and the weather service predicts afternoon heat index values in the 99-104 degree range. There is a slight chance for more strong storms Wednesday afternoon.

The forecast for Thursday also calls for a heat index over 100 degrees with a chance for storms Thursday through Friday night.
