Flooding disrupts Wednesday morning commute

Heavy rain from morning thunderstorms caused flooding across Lawrence and the Douglas County area on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Topeka, which issued a flash flood warning from 7 to 9 a.m., said two to four inches of rain had fallen in about two hours and another one to two inches was possible.

The weather service advises motorists not to drive into flooded areas. Runoff will cause flash flooding of creeks and streams, highways and underpasses.
