Cleveland forward Bragg still likes KU

Kansas University basketball recruiting.

Carlton Bragg, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound senior power forward from Villa Angela St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, on Monday cut his list of schools to five.

They are: Kansas University, Kentucky, Illinois, Arizona and UCLA.

“No particular order, no favorites and thank you to all the schools that have been recruiting me,” Bragg, Rivals.com’s No. 14-rated player nationally, Tweeted on Monday.

Bragg received scholarship offers from more than 20 schools, including Indiana, Texas, Michigan State, UConn, Louisville, Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

“They like to play open and my style of play matches their style of play,” he told the Cleveland Plain Dealer, referring to his five finalists.

Bragg will visit KU for the Oct. 10 Late Night in the Phog and Kentucky for the Oct. 17 Big Blue Madness.

He has an in-home visit with KU coach Bill Self scheduled for Sept. 11.

It was big news in Ohio that Ohio State did not make Bragg’s list.

“I think these schools were the best fit for me, and Ohio State was not the best fit for me,” Bragg told the Plain Dealer.

Bragg averaged 18.7 points and 8.5 rebounds a game his junior season of high school.

“He is a stretch four. He can shoot the jumper, run the floor real well, and that’s what people love about him,” Bragg’s mentor, Michael Graves, told Zagsblog.com. “His upside is unlimited. He’s just gotta keep doing the hard work and stay hungry and humble.”

Tatum cuts to 10: Jayson Tatum, a 6-7 junior guard from Chaminade High in St. Louis who is ranked No. 4 in the Class of 2016 announced a list of 10 schools Monday on Twitter. They are: KU, Arizona, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Saint Louis, UConn and Wake Forest.

KU offers point guard: Troy Brown, a 6-6 sophomore point guard from Centennial High in Las Vegas, has received scholarship offers from KU, UCLA, Duke, Arizona and UNLV, Zagsblog.com reports.

“It’s still kind of too early,” Brown told unlv.rivals.com, asked if he wanted to stay out West. “I’ll take it into consideration, but right now I’m just worried about playing basketball and being a kid.”
