GOP governors’ group spent $3.7M in Kansas race

? The Republican Governors Association says in a campaign finance report that it spent nearly $3.7 million in Kansas since August as it attacked Democratic candidate Paul Davis.

The association formed a Kansas political action committee to influence Davis’ race against Republican Gov. Sam Brownback. All of the PAC’s funds came from the RGA in Washington.

The report said the PAC spent more than $3.2 million on broadcast advertising time and an additional $289,000 on anti-Davis mailings.

Its efforts included a mailing this week that focused on a 1998 incident in which Davis was inside a southeast Kansas strip club during a meth raid. Davis was single and a young attorney with a law firm representing the club’s owner.

Davis said Tuesday that voters are tired of such personal attacks.
