Letter: Recycle buildings

To the editor:

Why can’t we recycle our vacant fire department and school buildings for the police and teens? Most people think recycling is good because it saves millions of the city and taxpayer money. Why does it have to be several millions more in taxes that have to be paid off for new buildings?

So the police department may not be as big as the new one, but these smaller ones instead could be used as precincts and those policemen would know their own district and could respond sooner. That’s good too. Businesses change their locations all the time, but the names on the buildings would obviously have to be changed.

So, why can’t the teens use the recreation centers around town? Do they need one that especially says “Teen Center”? They can also use the tennis courts around town at the schools and the school gyms. I really don’t see a need to build more buildings making the taxes go up more and home buying harder on individuals with more taxes.
