Letter: Take care
To the editor:
Driving and walking around town provides much pleasant observation: trails, a lake, the arts, strong local business presence, history, the university.
Looking closer, there is a growing number of unpleasant observations: unkept and unmowed yards at homes, rentals, vacant lots and trafficways. I don’t know your name, but I know your address. The unsightliness is exacerbated by the communicable nature of weeds and reseeding to neighboring property.
I don’t know your name, but I know your address. Families who care for their property and are near property that isn’t tended to by the financial institution are greatly and unfairly disadvantaged.
I don’t know your name, but I know your address. The city codes that are not enforced affect more than the offending property owner.
I don’t know your name, but I know your address. We may have an occasional time of water restriction but we won’t have a mowing restriction.
I don’t know your name, but I know your address. It is Lawrence, Kansas!
Let’s all get serious about making every area look like somebody loves it. Do your part! If you are able, help a neighbor who is unable.
Property owners/managers, contribute to the pride of Lawrence!
My name is Melanie Loyd, and my address is Lawrence, Kansas!
