Lawrence man to be sentenced in June for marijuana distribution

A 26-year-old Lawrence man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty Tuesday to two counts of distributing marijuana, both charges relating to a 2013 investigation.

Tyler K. Lau pleaded guilty in Douglas County District Court as part of a plea agreement that recommends a sentence of 49 months in prison. Lau was arrested earlier this year as part of an investigation by the Lawrence-Douglas County Drug Enforcement Unit. District Judge Peggy Kittel will sentence Lau on June 27.

Lau is charged with distributing between 25 to 450 grams of marijuana twice in May 2013. Also as part of the agreement, Lau will be ordered to pay $2,200 in restitution to the drug enforcement unit and $800 in Kansas Bureau of Investigation lab fees. He is free on a $10,000 bond as he awaits sentencing.
