Letter: Expensive city

Kudos to the Journal-World for their June 5 editorial and equal kudos to J. Joe Herynk for his letter to the editor on the same day. Lawrence’s anemic growth does not justify many of the elaborate investments at this time.
I remember my late husband said to me several times, “You know, Barbara, we may not be able to afford to live in Lawrence after I retire.” Whenever out-of-town friends (often not retirees) express an interest in living in Lawrence, I always caution them that it is a very expensive city in which to live.
