It’s that time again: the start of the Lawrence City Band’s summer concerts in South Park. Folks, this band, and iterations of it, have been around since the founding of Lawrence, even playing a concert the night before Quantrill’s raid over 150 years ago!

Come out on Wednesday evenings at 8 p.m. and enjoy a slice of Americana. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, invite a friend or neighbor and experience for FREE one of the best city bands in the country! You will see an amalgamation of people from all walks of life that make Lawrence such a great place.

The band is led by renowned conductor and arranger, Bob Foster, and features wonderful area musicians of incredible talent and great passion for band music. Each concert has a theme and always ends with a traditional march. Get off the couch, step away from the flat screen, put down your wireless device, unplug, get down to South Park to relax and enjoy. Come for the history and nostalgia, enjoy the park, the people and the music. You will not be disappointed!
