KPR, Audio-Reader Network chief to retire

Janet Campbell, general manager of Kansas Public Radio and director of the Kansas Audio-Reader Network, has announced her plans to retire on Sept. 2.

After graduating from Kansas University with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1979, Campbell started working as a secretary for the Audio-Reader Network, a KU-based radio reading service for those unable to read in print. She became its director in 1988.

Campbell officially became general manager of KANU-FM, the precursor to Kansas Public Radio, in 1998 after acting as interim general manager for 18 months. In Lawrence, KPR can be found on 91.5 FM

Steve Kincaid, assistant director and chief engineer at the Audio-Reader Network and engineering director at KPR, will be the interim director of both agencies while a replacement is found for Campbell.
