Moped driver struck by car suffers non-life-threatening injuries

Lawrence police responded to an injury accident at 3:20 p.m. Friday when a moped driver was struck by a car near the intersection of 10th Street and Monterey Way.

A 26-year-old Lawrence man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a Pontiac Bonneville driven by an 18-year-old Lawrence woman driving southbound struck him, Kim Murphree of the Lawrence Police Department said.

Murphree said the man was turning east into an apartment complex when the car hit him. He was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital following the accident.

The names of the drivers involved have not been released.
