Woman accused of pouring lighter fluid on victim in domestic disturbance

Lawrence police arrested a woman who reportedly poured lighter fluid on and tried to stab another person Thursday night in East Lawrence.

Officers were dispatched about 11 p.m. to a home near 11th and Connecticut streets, after the victim — with whom the suspect has a domestic relationship — left the home and called police from a nearby location to report the allegations, Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley said.

When police arrived at the home, the suspect had locked herself inside and refused to open the door, McKinley said. After obtaining a search warrant, police entered the home about 1:30 a.m. He said the suspect requested medical attention and was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for examination before being transported to jail, where she was booked on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.

McKinley said the suspect also made criminal allegations against the victim but that the victim was not arrested at the time.
