To the editor:

Do those who despise William Burroughs’ art feel that “The Scream” by Edvard Munch is trash and that everything that Thomas Kinkade ever painted should be on permanent exhibit  at the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

Don't ask me. I think the painting on velvet of the dogs playing poker is fine art.

Your condescending letter reminds me of William Burrough's attitude toward the rest of us that he was so far above. For my money, nothing says art like my Velvet Elvis.

I can't make head nor tails of this letter. Sorry. As a matter of fact, I loathe "The Scream." I had no idea who Thomas Kinkade is, so I looked him up.

I know you meant your letter to be sarcastic, but I saw a couple of his paintings that I would buy if I had the money. "Courageous Voyage", and "Sunset on Lampline Line." I don't know about art gallery but I would certainly be happy with them hanging in my home. I hope people check out his website.

Disgusting, that's all I have to say.

I have read lots of books from different cultures in my lifetime, and I have found nothing in William Burrough's attitude or writings that is useful or important. He moved to Lawrence because it is cheap here. He is useless, from my point of view.
