Letter: Praeger praise

To the editor:

I was so glad to see the nice article about Dr. Mark Praeger on the front page of Sunday’s Journal-World. His retirement is a huge loss to the community, but I hope that he has many enjoyable years ahead of fishing, traveling and anything else his heart fancies. He deserves it.

I will always be grateful that he was still practicing medicine when I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, not only for his great surgical skills but also for his kindness. Dr. Praeger personally called to give me the news following each test or surgery, even when it wasn’t good. When he asked if I had any questions, he actually listened. He was always reassuring and encouraging, but never hesitated to tell me the truth.

So, Dr. Praeger, thanks for helping me get through one of the toughest times in my life. Enjoy every minute of your retirement, but know that you will be greatly missed.
