Trial set for man charged with aggravated kidnapping, robbery

A 20-year-old Topeka man who was arrested following a lengthy December disturbance at a Lawrence apartment will go to trial April 30 on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated battery.

Jerome Leon Miller III appeared in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday for arraignment and waived a formal reading of the charges against him.

Miller is one of three men charged after a disturbance in an apartment in the 1700 block of West 24th Street.

Marcus Jerome Lee Bell, 27, of Lawrence, and Christopher Allen Freeman, 22, of Lawrence, were also arrested. All three are in jail on $50,000 bonds.

Freeman appeared in court last week and also waived a reading of his charges. He will also go to trial on April 30. Bell faces the same charges and is expected back in court on Feb. 25.
